Common Disorders
I specialise in working with anxiety, depression and related emotional issues.
The term anxiety covers a broad range of problems including:
- Panic Attacks - unexpected and abrupt periods of
intense anxiety, relatively brief in duration, with physical
symptoms such as palpitations, chest pain, nausea,
dizziness, and with thoughts of a catastrophic nature such
as fear of death or fear of going insane.
- Generalised Anxiety Disorder - persistent anxiety
and worry, with physical symptoms such as muscle tension,
restlessness, sleep disturbance, difficulty concentrating.
- Phobia - intense anxiety associated with a
specific object or situation. Common phobias include fear of
spiders, fear of flying, fear of social situations.
- Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - anxiety
associated with certain painful or traumatic events in the
past, which continue to have effects in the present such as
flashbacks, preoccupation and exaggerated responses to
connected events.
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD - a psychological
disorder that typically involves high levels of anxiety.
Both depression and anxiety typically manifest in physical symptoms.
Many organic illnesses are known to be stress related or exacerbated by stress.
I work with all the following:
- Headache and migraine
- Fatigue and low energy
- Insomnia
- Digestive problems such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Muscular aches and pains
- High blood pressure
- Asthma
In addition, my practice of neurofeedback allows me to work with
developmental disorders and neurological illnesses such as Attention
Deficit Disorder (ADD) and epilepsy.
